I was reading someones blog tonight (one I have visited before), and the realization that I am not always the most grateful person crept up on me. I was sitting there reading all of the remarkable things this person is doing in a day, and thinking "How in the world can she get all of that stuff done!" I am not a great organizer and I am definitely not one of those constantly moving woman who weigh 98lb. and run behind three kids under the age of five grabbing everything they put down and putting it back. I have done it, but I don't like it. Anyway I was reading this blog wondering how these great feats were accomplished, and wishing I could accomplish them when I realized that I was reading a blog all about 30 days of being grateful. The funny thing is that I even have a little reminder at the top of my blog to be grateful, but I guess that was put there when I was remembering to remember to be grateful. Anyway, I thought that I would post a few things I am grateful for on the last day of the month designated for being thankful.
1. Family, In particular immediate family. I married my best friend and the Shakespearian comedy to my drama, and we produced offspring who teach me, test me, best me, and better me.
2. Friends. I am thankful for friends who are always there to listen, always there to strengthen, and always there to laugh with.
3. Nature. I am grateful for cooler weather, and for the beauty that surrounds me. Growing up in Alaska was the best possible experience for a kid.
4. Traditions. I am grateful for traditions that connect us to those who have gone before us, and those that will come after us.
5. Work. I am so grateful for a boss who understands people and is the most non-judgmental, non-competitive, non-biased person I have ever met, and for a career that makes a difference and that I love dearly.
6. Food. I am grateful for good food, and for recipes developed by my ancestors.
7. Modern Conveniences. Power for Christmas lights, Power for cooking and heating and cooling, and water for washing and drinking.
8. Freedom. I am grateful that I live in a country where I can still speak my mind, still be involved in the political process, and still hear the opinions and thoughts of others around me.
9. Dr. Pepper-self explanatory.
10. Heretics. I am grateful for those who have had the courage to say "the world is round!""the Earth revolves around the Sun" etc.
11. Music. I love music and am grateful for the ability to sing, and the gift of musical instrument ability. I love to listen to others perform and more.
These are just a few of the things I am grateful for.
