It started out innocent enough. A child's birthday cake and a little bit of mint chocolate chip ice cream won't hurt anybody. The day was rainy and overcast, and I woke to find that companion still with me. The one that tells me endorphins are better than chocolate. I did yoga and began to prepare for the rest of the stressful day ahead of me. I was focused determined, and even a little cocky. The temptation that lay ahead of me was not even on my mind. As I went about my daily activities and pondered the day eight years earlier that the easiest delivery worst pregnancy known to man came quietly and calmly into my life I was cheerful (even though I was on day 11 of a constant migraine). Then all at once it happened, the unexpected, the one thing that could take my companion of control away from me. My will powers cryptonite--dah dah DAH--EXTENDED FAMILY! I know many of you are strengthened by yours (I don't really believe that, but I want to). Mine however is a series of much older siblings who for the most part act half my age and always come to me to fix it. Those closer to me will laugh at this prospect as I am rarely able to fix myself let alone someone else, but in my defense I will state that I have been found responsible enough to drive a car and vote (doesn't that qualify me to choose peoples solutions?) Well, it must be enough for people twice my age because they come to me. I noticed it the moment I heard the familiar voice summoning the end of the world over a familiar story, and control left me. I was crazy and there was no stopping the monster that dwells within me. It wouldn't have been that tragic had the catastrophe ended there, but no it continued the next day and the next for the next week. Endless innocents lost their contents, and by the time I was able to regain my sanity all that was left were the remnants of former caloric containers. In my haste and rampage two pizzas, a carton of mint chocolate chip ice cream, a bag of potato chips, about a dozen gingerbread men, a container of lofthouse cookies, and two thirds of an unsuspecting birthday cake were decimated! Many were wondering if the madness would ever end and the two dogs that live here were fearing for their lives, afraid of becoming BBQ brisket or pigs in a blanket. They survived however and with only mildly hurt feelings from the lack of sharing that went on. So in memory of all of the high fat, super sweet, and mega calorie foods that were lost in the tragedy I have started a memorial fund. Proceeds will go to the local farmers market that will be frequented for the next six months to make amends for their consumption.
